Taught by Brooklyn Historical Society
Brooklyn Historical Society connects the past to the present and makes the vibrant history of Brooklyn tangible, relevant, and meaningful for today's diverse communities, and for generations to come.
To some they are the rats of the sky, others nurture entire flocks. Love them or hate them, pigeons in New York City are here to stay. But how did they get here, and how have they adapted so well to urban living?
Margaret Mittelbach, founder of The Secret Science Club, leads a panel of experts in a discussion on the history and contemporary life of the city’s most ubiquitous bird, including Andrew Blechman, author of Pigeons: The Fascinating Saga of the World's Most Revered and Reviled Bird, Rita McMahon, Director of the Wild Bird Fund, ColinJerolmack, professor and author of The Global Pigeon, and Duke Riley, artist and creator of Fly By Night, a collaboration with Creative Time and the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Presented in partnership with the Brooklyn Historical Society.
This panel takes place at the Brooklyn Historical Society, and ticket sales take place through Eventbrite. No Brainery gift certificates can be used for this event.
